Get the Domi Gate app
You need an invitation from your building manager. Domi Gate is not a service you can sign up for on your own. If your building does not use it yet, the app will not do anything for you.
Android only, for now
The resident app is for Android phones. There is no iPhone version yet; an iOS app is planned.Route 1: the link your manager gave you
Your manager hands you a link, a QR card or a message. It contains your personal code.
-
Open the link on your Android phone
The install page opens and shows your code, which apartment it is for and how long it is valid.
-
Get the app
The page takes you to Google Play, or to a direct download when Google Play is not available to you.
-
Activate
Open the app, tap "First time here? Activate with a code", enter the code and choose a password. The page can also open the app with the code already filled in.
Route 2: Google Play
During closed testing only the Google accounts your manager added can see the listing. Tap "Become a tester" on the testing page, then install. After the public launch the app will be in the store like any other.
Direct download
When you install from the direct download, your phone shows two warnings. They come in this order and both are expected.
-
Chrome: "File might be harmful"
Chrome says this about every app that does not come from Google Play. Tap "Download anyway". The file is called domi-gate-resident.apk.
-
Android: allow installing from this source
Android asks once whether your browser may install apps. Allow it, then tap Install again.
-
Updates
Updates come from Google Play once you are a tester. Otherwise ask your manager for the new link.
Then activate
-
The code
Eight letters and digits in two groups, like K7GM-Q2XP. It never contains 0, O, 1, I or L, so there is nothing to confuse.
-
One use, 72 hours
The code works once and stops working 72 hours after it was issued.
-
Lost or expired?
Ask your building manager for a new code. The old one stops working the moment a new one is issued.
