Help for residents
Your building manager holds your account and is the first person to ask. These answers cover what residents ask most often.
How do I install the app?
Open the link or scan the QR card your building manager gave you, on your Android phone. The page shows your code and takes you to Google Play, or to a direct download.
Then open the app, tap “First time here? Activate with a code”, enter the code and choose a password.
The step-by-step version is on the Get the app page.
My browser says "File might be harmful". Is that normal?
Yes, for the direct download. Chrome says this about every app that does not come from Google Play. Tap “Download anyway”.
Next, Android asks once whether to allow installing from your browser. Allow it and tap Install again. These two prompts come in that order.
What does the code look like and how long is it valid?
Eight letters and digits in two groups, like K7GM-Q2XP. It never contains 0, O, 1, I or L, so there is nothing to confuse.
It works once and stops working 72 hours after it was issued.
My code expired or did not work.
Ask your building manager for a new one. Issuing a new code cancels the old one, so only the newest code works.
Activation code or reset code?
An invitation code activates a new account. A reset code sets a new password for an existing account; you use it behind “Forgot your password?”.
Reset codes work once and expire after 24 hours.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet. The app is for Android phones. An iOS app is planned.
My phone did not ring.
Check these, in order:
- The app is signed in and its home screen says “Connected”.
- Notifications for Domi Gate are allowed.
- “Display over other apps” is allowed. The app asks for it on first start.
- The phone is not set to put Domi Gate to sleep or to restrict its battery use.
- You did not force-stop the app.
During a call the app runs as a foreground call service so Android does not pause it. Some phone brands close background apps aggressively; add Domi Gate to their exceptions.
Can the visitor hear me as soon as the video appears?
No. The video opens with your microphone off. Nothing is sent from your phone until you tap Audio or Video.
Who can see a missed-call clip?
Only the residents of the apartment that was called. This is enforced by the server, not just hidden in the app.
Motion clips recorded at the entrance are different: only a building manager can fetch one, on request, and every fetch is logged.
How long is a missed-call clip kept?
On the panel, about 48 hours. After someone in your household plays it for the first time, it can be replayed for 30 minutes.
If the call was answered, or a resident saw the visitor and ended the preview, the clip is deleted at once.
Why can I not take a screenshot of a clip?
The clip screen blocks screenshots and screen recording on purpose. It shows a person at the door, and the clip is meant for seeing who came, not for keeping footage.
How do I give a guest a door code?
In the app, open “Door codes”, tap “New code”, say who it is for, set a time window and a number of entries, and share the picture. The guest holds it up to the panel’s camera.
Times follow the clock at the entrance. The code works even when the internet is down. Delete it any time; it stops working within seconds.
Is a door code safe to send over chat?
Anyone who has the picture can open the door, like a key. Set an end time or a number of entries, and delete the code when it is no longer needed. The app warns you if a code has neither.
How do I use a PIN or a tag at the door?
PIN: press “Open Door”, type your PIN, press Unlock.
Tag: press “Open Door”, then hold the tag against the reader.
Five wrong PINs lock the keypad for a minute. Your PIN is stored only as a hash and nobody can read it back, so if you forget it your manager issues a new one.
Can I change the language?
Yes. The app has a language picker on the sign-in screen and in the app: English, Macedonian, Albanian, Serbian (Cyrillic and Latin), Croatian, Slovenian, Greek and Bulgarian.
The panel’s language is set by the building.
What happens when the internet is down?
PINs, tags and guest codes still open the door, because the panel checks them itself.
Calls, opening the door from the phone, and fetching clips need the server.
Who do I ask about my data?
Your building manager first. They operate the system in your building and hold your account.
